ABOUT WOS
Women on Site was born out of a genuine need for connection and support within the building industries. Founded by four women who experienced isolation in their careers, WOS emerged organically from an Instagram community.
Recognizing the industry's challenges in retaining women and facing a labour shortage, WOS is committed to fostering a sense of community and connection to encourage women to stay and thrive in their male dominated careers. Women on Site aims to be a beacon of support and community for women and gender diverse individuals in the building industries.
Our community’s unique focus on networking, mentorship, and community building sets us apart in a landscape of recruitment-focused initiatives.
Women On Site was created by Constanza, an Environmental Technician; Samara, a Red Seal Sheet Metal worker; Darci, an Electrical Apprentice; and Tessa, a Red Seal Bricklayer. Four women working in construction that saw the need for a community for people just like them.
OUR MISSION
To create a welcoming community for women and gender diverse people in the trades, construction, manufacturing, and STEM industries. We create experiences to connect outside of work. Through these events, we address our two main goals:
Reduce the loneliness experienced by underrepresentation.
Ensure the retention of underrepresented people in our industries.
